What’s on Now

Craigdarroch Castle will be closed Tuesday April 23, 2013

Craigdarroch Castle will be used in some scenes for the production of Spooksville, a kids’ TV series based on the 1990s series of young adult horror novels by Christopher Pike. Crews will be on site at Craigdarroch April 23rd to shoot scenes utilizing the exterior and interior of the castle and to accommodate this the Castle and surrounding grounds will be closed to the public for the day. This closure comes at a time of year when visitation is low for Castle and will provide a nice boost in revenue for the Society, which derives its income from admission, gift shop sales, donations and rentals of the facility.

The Castle will reopen to visitors on Wednesday April 24 at 10:00 am.

Our Video Documentary

The Craigdarroch Castle Historical Museum Society was thrilled with the number of viewers who tuned into CHEK television for the airing of our documentary  video, Victoria’s Castle.  This 52 minute educational video tells some of the stories of the Dunsmuir family and subsequent institutions who occupied Victoria’s Castle and highlights Craigdarroch’s relationship with the city of Victoria’s development.

What goes on at The Castle ?

Tourists and local residents delight in a chance encounter with Kate and Esther the Maids or Christopher the Butler who often make an appearance during special events. Whether it’s Robert Burns Day with the address to the Haggis, March Break or Christmas, the Castle comes alive with something for everyone. There’s even Theatre in October where the whole Castle becomes the set as the audience follow actors from scene to scene through the rooms and hallways.

Member’s Night provides an opportunity to talk with staff and directors about the year’s work or upcoming projects while enjoying food from one of our preferred caterers and music from talented Vancouver Island performers. So plan your visit or get involved and let us show you Victoria’s Legendary Landmark!

The Castle is a wonderful location to hold a private event so why not consider holding yours here?  For more information contact us at 250.592.5323 or email: ehazell@thecastle.ca
